As Principal, I am very proud to welcome you to The Hermitage Academy and thank you for your interest in our very special school. Our vision is simple: to promote a culture of achievement so that all our students gain positive outcomes.

At the Hermitage Academy we value each individual pupil; we believe every student is talented.

When you visit the Hermitage we know that you find the school to have a warm and friendly atmosphere where your child will be supported to develop to his or her full potential, not only academically but personally and socially.

We pride ourselves with being a popular, inclusive and oversubscribed school that is central to our community and we will continually strive to be the school of choice for all who live here.

Our students are polite, courteous and respectful. We have three core values: kindness, responsibility and effort. Our student voice tells us that they enjoy school, feel safe and value the broad and exciting curriculum and enrichment opportunities we offer. We remain committed to students receiving a rounded education, including academic success and social, moral, spiritual and cultural development. We want all of our students to have the academic qualifications, personal skills and confidence to take full advantage of the opportunities that await them in the future.

Our Sixth Form College regularly forms a natural progression for our students. The level of pastoral care they receive is second to none and our students tell us that the strong relationships that they have made over the previous 5 years with our staff have been a key driver in continuing their education with us. We have an excellent track record of students gaining their first choice university places, many of which are within the Russell group, as well as supporting students in gaining higher level apprenticeships and employment. Our Leading students in the Sixth Form are role models for students in younger years, holding key roles within the school in terms of student leadership.

We have a fantastic team of teaching and support staff who are dedicated to their profession. Our staff establish excellent working relationships with all students and parents that lead to high levels of trust, creating a climate for learning that is challenging and inspirational. We aim to continually improve how we do things at the Hermitage. Our staff tell us that the professional development we offer them is a real strength and we know that by investing in our staff our students will benefit from higher quality teaching and learning, first class care and guidance, and a more personalised approach for all.

Thank you very much for your interest in the school we love and I hope very much that you enjoy exploring our website.

We aim never to be complacent and welcome feedback. Every day is Open Day at The Hermitage and visitors are always welcome.
